Kamal lays foundation stone of stadium

The City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on Monday laid the foundation stone of a stadium in Baldia town, and said it would be completed in two years time at an estimated cost of Rs 121.07 million on 25 acres of plot.
Addressing a large gathering, he said the proposed project would consist of a cricket, football, and hockey ground, a swimming pool, and a jogging track. He said the stadium would have all basic and modern facilities including a 20-thousand square feet water tanker, a score board, a sewerage plant, a tanker for water storage, a plant for recycling the sewerage water, a communication system, an electric sub-station an a fire fighting system.
Mustafa also announced that the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) would construct six such stadiums in the metropolis. He said lying the foundation stone of a stadium in Baldia town was the first step taken in this regard.
He said besides construction of a stadium, the CDGK was also carrying out the construction of a 100-beded hospital in the same area, while uplift project of Rs 507 million had been undertaken to develop the Baldia town on modern lines.
