The formal launching of the Motobus were held on July 11, 2006 at Carlton Hotel, DHA, Karachi. The large number of media representatives present on this occasion inspected the Motobus and appreciated the planning of Motorola to popularise these cell phones amongst the people of Pakistan.
The name of Motorola hardly needs any introduction for the Pakistani urban customer. Ever since it entered the Pakistani market in 1992, it has gained wide acceptance across the country.
Pakistan being one of the fastest growing mobile phone markets in the region with the proportion of Pakistanis with mobiles growing from under 1 percent in 2000 to over 13 percent in 2005 represents a tenfold increase from less than 2 million customers to over 20 million customers. Motorola now plans to take the same concept to the rural areas of Pakistan to thousands of small towns and villages.-PR
