Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Punjab President Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa has said that Ahmad Nedeem Qasmi was a big name in the literary circle and the country has suffered a huge loss with his demise.
He expressed these views while addressing a reference held in memories of Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi and victims of Multan plane crash, which was organised by the PML-N Culture Wing Punjab, here on Wednesday. PML-N Cultural Wing Punjab President Farah Deba, Zakia Shahnawaz, MNA Malik Pervaiz and other local leaders were also present on the occasion.
Khosa further said that Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi's contribution to literature was immense and he was a firm believer of democracy and democratic institutions. After offering Dua for the eternal peace of departed soul of Qasmi, he demanded that both Nawaz Sharif and Shabaz Sharif should be permitted to return to the country to express condolence with bereaved family.
On the Multan plane crash, he lamented the government for negligence and demanded that a high-level inquiry should be conducted while compensation should be given to the heirs of victims.
While addressing the audience, Malik Pervaiz said that Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi was a firm believer of democratic norms. He also lamented the government for the plane crash and said the plane crash, stock market crash, and Pakistan Steel Mill scam reflected the failure of our national institutions, which supposed to act as a regulatory authority.
According to him, he had raised the issue of Fokker planes in both the Defence Committee and the National Assembly and pointed out that those planes had served its age, but it fell on deaf ears.
On stock market crash, he said that a committee on the matter had made a number of recommendations, but despite a lapse of 13 months it was still waiting to be implemented.
