Ambassador briefed on PAL-C's working

16 Jul, 2006

A delegation of Pakistani American Leadership Centre (PAL-C) met with Ambassador Mahmud Ali Durrani, to brief him on PAL-C and the community. It comprised PAL-C Executive Director Fauzia Tariq, and Board of Directors members Mossadaq Chughtai, Pervaiz Lodhi and Rafiq Rahman and Regional Director Dr Aquil Ur Rehman, says a press release.
The briefing promised to be the base of a renewed relationship between the Pakistani American community and the Embassy of Pakistan. The briefing focussed on a wide array of topics ranging from a candid critique of the historical relationship between Pakistan and the United States, an introduction to the Pakistani diaspora in the States, and PAL-C.
The Board emphasised the importance of PAL-C's role as the only Pakistani organisation with a day-to-day presence on Capitol Hill and as a liaison between the Pakistani American community and the American political system.
Following the briefing was a round table discussion during which Ambassador Durrani praised PAL-C and its mission to educate the Pakistani American community to become more active in American politics. Executive Director Fauzia Tariq later said: "The briefing to the new Ambassador was very productive and well-received". The conclusion yielded many insights on how PAL-C and the Embassy could work together to better represent Pakistan in the United States. The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) is the only professional Pakistani-American advocacy organisation that is located on Capitol Hill.
