Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has expressed the hope that the success of Muslim Conference in the recent elections would augur well for the Kashmir cause and the people of Kashmir and further strengthening of democracy in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He was talking to AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan at the Kashmir House here on Sunday where he visited to offer Fateha and condolences on the sad demise of his wife.
He reiterated Pakistan's commitment for a just and early solution of Kashmir problem in line with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.
Prime Minister Aziz said that the tenure of Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan will be remembered for unprecedented development in the area, opening of crossing points at various places along the Line of Control and commencement of the raising of the Mangla Dam Project.
He appreciated the contribution of the outgoing AJK Prime Minister during the emergency situation after the earthquake and said that his role in co-ordinating the sustained support for the rehabilitation and reconstruction work in collaboration with the government of Pakistan, Pakistan Army and international donors was exemplary.
Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan said that the main source of strength for the Muslim Conference candidates during the elections was the massive development activity undertaken in AJK with the assistance of the government of Pakistan, especially in the aftermath of last year's earthquake.
