A three-member foreign investigation team visited the Fokker plane crash site here on Sunday as part of the ongoing investigations into the tragic incident.
Holger Litzenberg, the aircraft accident investigator, and Mike L Webber, the principal investigator engineering, both from Rolls Royce, and Arthur Reekers, the air-worthiness certification engineer from Fokker, visited the plane crash site.
Captain Shahnawaz Dara, the senior vice president of PIA Flight Safety and Health Safety Environment (HSE), told APP that black box or the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) would be sent to Aircraft Accident Investigation Board (AAIB), UK, to decipher the recording.
The team would be leaving for Karachi on Sunday evening where they would hold meetings during next three to four days with PIA experts and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials, said captain Dara. He said, small maize size particles which were found on the grass on the side of runway would also be sent to laboratory in some foreign country for analysis.
