The Chief Justice of Pakistan, taking suo motu notice of causalities in Faisalabad due to gastro-enteritis, has called for reports from district Nazim, DCO and MD Wasa Faisalabad within two weeks. The court took this action on a letter written by a social worker of Faisalabad Ghazi Muhammad Baksh to Chief Justice of Pakistan.
In his letter, Ghazi submitted that over 12 persons were killed in Ghulam Muhammadabad, Faisalabad due to use of contaminated water but respondent officials did not take concrete steps to overcome the situation. He said the government officials instead of resolving the problems confronted to the innocent citizens, were leading luxurious lives.
He therefore, prayed to Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of delinquency of the respondent officials and direct them to ensure provision of clean drinking water to the residents of Faisalabad. The court, taking suo motu notice, issued notices to the concerned officials and directed them to submit their reports within two weeks.
