The apex court also directed the court to submit its report pertaining to progress of the case and advised Rehana to appear before the trial court. According to the details, Rehana was married with Azam Masih but she later reverted to Islam and her husband started torturing her but she escaped from her house and got married with Taqeer.
Azim Masih got registered an FIR against them and they were arrested on March 30, 2006. Rehana contended before the court that after reverting to Islam her previous marriage stands dissolved automatically, hence Hudood case could not be registered against her and her husband.
