The government has directed the provincial governments to gradually phase out the use of diesel buses in order to make Pakistan a pollution-free zone. The government is also encouraging the manufacturing of CNG buses in Pakistan to achieve this objective.
A team of Engineering Development Board (EDB), led by its CEO Imtiaz Rastgar, visited the bus manufacturing facilities of the Hinopak Motors and the Afzal Motors at Karachi to assess the manufacturing potential of CNG buses in Pakistan, said a press release on Tuesday.
Regarding manufacturing capabilities and capacities, the EDB team observed that the dedicated CNG engine, CNG conversion kit, cylinders and other accessories are being imported by the manufacturers whereas they have the capabilities of local manufacturing/assembly of chassis, body, trims, etc for CNG buses.-PR
