Coronary CT scan service at SKMCH

19 Jul, 2006

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) has taken another lead in providing 'coronary CT scan service'. Cardiac CT uses the advanced technology with intravenous (IV) contrast to visualise the heart anatomy, coronary circulation and great vessels.
The hospital is using state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanners. It is possible to acquire high resolution three-dimensional images of the moving heart and great vessels in only a few seconds.
Cardiac CT coronary angiography has a high negative predicative value approaching 97 to 100 percent determining its high accuracy. SKMCH is one of the first institutions to introduce this latest technology in Pakistan.
The revenue to be generated from this service will be utilised to provide treatment to indigent cancer patients.
