The NFP government with the financial assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) would spend Rs 4.11 billion on various hydropower generation projects in the province, sources in the Sarhad Hydel Development Organisation (Shydo) told Business Recorder on Thursday.
The Asian Bank would bear 80 percent expenses of the projects while the remaining 20 percent would be paid from the Annual Development Programme (ADP) of the province. During the current financial year, the provincial government has sanctioned Rs 300 million to be spent on seven projects.
The hydropower projects selected for launching of construction work are: Daral Khawar of district Swat having a capacity of 35 MW electricity generation, Ranolia, district Kohistan 11.50 MW and Machai project in district Mardan with the capacity of 2.6 MW.
The provincial government would also prepare feasibility reports of three more hydropower generation projects. These sites are situated in Koto, district Lower Dir having a capacity of 18 MW, Karora power generation project in district Shangla 8 MW, and Jabori project in district Mansehra of 8 MW.
