Sheikhupura traders seek problems resolution

21 Jul, 2006

Sheikhupura Association of Industry chairman Shahzad Ali Nagina and convenor Manzoor Malik have drawn attention of President Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi toward problems faced by the areas businessmen community and seek its redress.
In a statement, they said Sheikhupura was an important district of Punjab but unfortunately its industrial estate, which was the oldest industrial estate of the province, was faced with multiple problems and suffering a lot due to the apathetic attitude of those at the helm of affairs.
One of the reasons for the complexity of problems was that it had no representation at any government forum. Whenever they raised voice at the government level, it fell on deaf ears because of absence of the area business community at any platform.
It is ironic that this industrial estate which was located at the heart of Gujranwala, Narowal, Faisalabad and Nankana had lost its importance despite the fact that this area was abundant with industrial and other resources, they pointed out.
Meanwhile an emergent meeting of the association was held with its chairman Shahzad Ali Nagina in the chair. Convener Manzoor Malik presented report of initiatives taken by the association for resolving problems of the industrial community of the area. It was resolved efforts to redress grievances of the people would be further accelerated.
