21 Jul, 2006

Pakistan Association of Automotive Accessories Manufacturers (Paapam), while commenting on the Trade Policy, has said the creation of rapid export growth strategy (REGS) will help enhance country's exports.
Paapam Chairman Razzak Ahmad appreciated the five-point strategy and the product groups selected for this purpose, and said the inclusion of engineering products for exports making it a billion-dollar sector, which showed the interest attached by the government to the industrial growth.
In a statement here on Wednesday, Razzak said the government decision of dispensing with permission from Ministry of Commerce and allowing temporary export and subsequent duty free import of goods, sent abroad for exhibitions, repairs, testing and other business process requirements would eliminate the difficulties being faced by the exporters.
Talking about establishment of 'Trade Development Authority of Pakistan' (TDAP), he asked the government to take steps to remove the difficulties being faced by the exporters. Pakistan's Commercial Consulates must be assigned targets for giving boost to exports, he added.
