NWFP Governor Lieutenant General Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai (Retd) has said that restoration and maintenance of peace in Fata was vital for the socio-economic uplift of tribal area. Talking to a delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) here at Governor House on Thursday he said the government was taking concrete initiatives to ensure peace and establish writ of the government.
So that the development process could be furthered in the larger interest of the people and the area. Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai said formation of Grand Jirga was the latest move in this regard to resolve the crisis in Waziristan through traditional tribal way.
Aurakzai briefed the delegation about the over all law and order situation in the province and Fata and also responded various questions from its members. He said that under a comprehensive strategy, extra platoons of Frontier Constabulary was being deployed and the policing system was being strengthened to curb the illegal activities of anti-social and criminal elements and closely monitor their movement from either side of the border between the settled districts and adjoining tribal areas.
The Governor said that crisis always bring challenges and opportunities. "Let us strive to convert the challenges that we face today into opportunities for the tribesmen", the Governor added.
He in this regard mentioned the massive development programme initiated in Fata over the past few years and hoped that it would create best economic opportunities for the tribesmen. Leader of the delegation Arif Nizami who is also the President of the CPNE thanked the Governor on behalf of the delegation for his warm hospitality.
