Protest held against Israeli aggression

22 Jul, 2006

Protesters belonging to various civil society organisations and politico religious parties on Friday staged a demonstration to protest and condemn the Israeli aggression against innocent people of Lebanon and Palestine.
The protest was organised by Majlis-i-Sheriyan Multan, Imamia Students Organisation. Protesters carrying banners, placards and flags of Lebanon and Palestine chanted slogans against the repressive polices of the Jewish state and demanded its immediate withdrawal from Lebanon.
The banners and placards displayed messages of peace such as, stop aggression, protect the small and weak countries and condemnation of Israel and its allies like, "down with America, down with Israel. The Majlis statement said Lebanon and Palestine had been under attack by Israel for the last eight days and the situation had been deteriorating with every passing day. "We condemn the Israeli aggression which was plotting to destroy the Lebanon, Syria and Iran.
It said Israel aggression against Lebanon went far beyond a reaction to a military operation targeting soldiers. "The capture of Israel soldiers is serving as a mere pretext for a major offensive attack by Israel on the aspiration and the morale of the Lebanese people. Israeli army is targeting Lebanese civilians and civil infrastructure.
The Israel aggression against Lebanon can be described as a collective punishment against all the Lebanon people," it said. It also called on the international community to immediately intervene to protect civilians and to end Israeli aggression against Lebanon. The protesters said more than 200 deaths and thousands of injured were the result of the first eight days of the attack. In addition to human losses their airports were targeted and all the coastal ports and transport and communications infrastructures including wheat elevators, bridges and power stations had been bombed and rendered unusable.
