A large number of activists of Awami Tehreek, Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STPP), PML, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) and other social organisations on Sunday staged demonstration at national highway near telegraph office at Kotri railway crossing to protest against non-arrest of police officials of Lyari Task Force allegedly involved in killing of an innocent villager Rasool Bux Brohi in a fake encounter.
The protesters also staged sit-in for about three hours blocking the road and suspending Hyderabad-Thatta-Karachi traffic.
Malik Changez Khan and Mama Siddique Baloch of PML, Shabbir Magsi of STPP, Imdad Panhwar, Sajid Qambrani and Aijaz Soomro of Awami Tehreek, Ghani Mangrio of JSQM led the demo.
The leaders said that the rulers have turned Sindh into a police state where the masses have been made hostage. They demanded arrest of police officials involved in killing of Rasool Bux and disbanding the Force. Later they ended the sit-in after the TPO Kotri gave assurance of justice.
When the protesters dispersed peacefully, certain unidentified miscreants pelted stones on Hyderabad-bound K-2 goods train smashing the headlight and windowpanes of the engine.
