Government departments owe Rs 2,382 million dues to Hesco

An amount of Rs 2382 million remains payable by various provincial government departments as well as district and taluka administrations of Sindh province to Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco).
A Company spokesman said here on Saturday that out of this amount the provincial government departments are defaulters of Rs 497 million district governments Rs 497 million, taluka municipal administrations Rs 1145 million, local bodies Rs 213 million while Rs 404 million are payable as arrears to Hesco by Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA).
The spokesman said Chief Executive Hesco Maqbool Ahmed Khawaja has contacted high officials of Sindh Government and the heads of defaulting departments and organisations for payment of outstanding dues.
The Chief Executive Hesco has appealed to all District and Taluka Nazims of the province to clear their outstanding dues to enable the organisation to improve its financial position, the spokesman said that Hesco is a commercial organisation and making all out efforts to provide better services which could be possible when it becomes financially sound and receives payment of its electricity bills on regular basis.
