Textile package, trade policy hailed

Faisalabad Garment City Company Chairman Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmad has hailed the new textile package and trade policy announced by the government. Talking to newsmen, he termed it a great decision to save the textile sector, particularly home textile and garments from grave crisis, which he believes prevailing for the last year and day by day there was deterioration in the textile exports.
Pakistan is a fortunate enough as bulk manpower and raw material is available here but it needs research and development to compete in the world market.
As our competitors are providing cheaper inputs to their textile industries eg their gas and electricity rates are cheaper.
He, therefore, requested the government to reduce tariff of both. He appreciated the textile package and extended special thanks to Minister of Textile Industry Mushtaq Ali Cheema for his continuous efforts towards convincing and pursued Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and his Cabinet colleagues to provide Rs 25 billion Package to the industry.
He further said that it was now the responsibility of the business community and exporters to come forward and draw benefit from the government policies and enhance Pakistan's exports.
