IGP asked to appoint medical coordinator in police stations

Home minister Sindh, Rauf Siddiqui has directed the IGP Sindh, Jehangir Mirza to appoint an officer in all the police stations of the province to co-ordinate with hospitals regarding rape and burn cases.
In a letter to the IGP, Rauf Siddiqui directed him to ensure prompt and effective treatment to the victims of rape and burn injuries that were brought to the hospitals.
He said it had been observed that due to long and complicated legal proceedings, the evidences were destroyed even when the victims succumbed to their injuries while their families had to face severe hardships and trauma.
Rauf Siddiqui added in his letter that an officer, at least an ASI should be posted in each police station of Sindh for co-ordinating the rape and burn cases with the private/government hospital falling in the jurisdiction of the respective police station so that investigations could be completed speedily and justice could be ensured.
