Delisted companies

25 Jul, 2006

I was astonished to find that more than thirty companies are delisted from the Karachi Stock Exchange. I request the authorities concerned to take the trouble to peep into the stock exchange affairs as to how these companies were enlisted in the Karachi Stock Exchange and allowed to sell their shares to the innocent public.
It seems nobody bothered to look after, rather the responsible authorities helped them to go free and unchecked.
I have never heard if the concerned authorities tried to look after such cases and took any action, to save the public from being robbed by them. There are four companies namely Tawakkal Garments, Tawakkal Limited, Tawakkal Power and Tawakkal Polyester that belong to the same owner. All are delisted.
May I ask that if these companies had not sufficient assets and funds how could they delisted and allowed to sell their shares to the public through the KSE.
I request the government and the newly-appointed chairman to enquire and let the public know as to who are responsible for such affairs, and if any action was taken against these companies and the persons involved in it. If these companies have any assets, wealth and if presently, in business, these should be seized forthwith and sold off to pay their shareholders. The government must not sit silent but must take action against the responsible people.
