Egypt buys US and Canadian wheat

The Egyptian government's main wheat buyer said it bought 285,000 tonnes of US and Canadian wheat on Thursday for shipment between August 21 and 31. Sayed el-Hefny, vice chairman of the government's General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), gave the following breakdown of the purchases (all prices FOB):
-- 60,000 tonnes of US soft white wheat from United Harvest at $143.35/tonne
-- 55,000 tonnes of US soft red winter wheat from Perdue at $141.30/tonne
-- 60,000 tonnes of Canadian wheat from Bunge at $139/tonne
-- two 55,000-tonne cargoes (for a total of 110,000 tonnes) of Canadian wheat from Dreyfus at $139/tonne.
