Weather brings respite for KESC

29 Jul, 2006

The power utility, KESC, on Friday for the first had 32MW surplus power as the weather continued to remain pleasant in the metropolis. There was no loadshedding as there was no shortage of power. The Principal Officer, Public Relation, KESC, Sultan Hasan told Business Recorder here on Friday that both 220MW circuits of KDA-Jamshoro were available.
The Hubco-KESC link also synchronised at 1020 hours. Previously, the link was down since Tuesday morning due to problem at the Wapda end. The Mauripur Grid remained interrupted from 0858 to 1256 hours due to opening of Blue Phase jumper of Lyari/Mauripur circuit at pole No 10.
RECP Grid is still affected due to flash of 11 kV busbar of outgoing feeder 'Grain Godown' at 0905 hours. The RECP Grid was normalised at 1500 hours. Due to system constraints about 15MW load will be shed at Elander Road, Civic Centre, Liaquatabad and Mauripur Grids. The expected city power demand may touch 2050MW and the available power is 2182MW, he said.
