Voters enrolment in Fata launched

NWFP Governor, Lieutenant General Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai (Retd), enrolled himself as voter to mark the launching of the process meant for preparation of fresh computerised electoral lists both in the province as well as Federally Administered Tribal Area (Fata) from Saturday.
A representative team of Peshawar based Pakistan Election Commission, comprising Provincial Election Commissioner, Akhtar Hussain Sabir and Joint Provincial Election Commissioner, Imtiaz Alam visited the Governor's House to get Lieutenant General Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai (Retd) enrolled as voter.
Talking on this occasion, the Governor had expressed the confidence that all the citizens, who had become eligible would be enabled to avail the opportunity to register themselves as voters.
The Governor had also appealed all those men and women who had reached the age of 18 years or crossed this limit; having National Identity Cards (NIC) should register themselves as voters. This, he said, was a national trust and duty and all concerned must fulfil their responsibilities with utmost sincerity and honesty.
The Governor had also asked all the respective departments and organisations to fully cooperate with the officials of the Election Commission in the fulfilment of this national duty. He also assured his fullest support to enable the Commission to complete the process with utmost satisfaction especially in Fata.
In this connection he also mentioned his recent meeting with the Director General, National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and said that hectic efforts were also under way to reach to every citizen who had crossed the qualifying limit of age to become eligible to get Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) as well and mobile teams had also been sent for this purpose to remote areas.
Meanwhile on a point, the Governor was also informed that the computerised elect rolls preparation process was being launched simultaneously both in the province and Fata and the Election Commission had made adequate arrangements for this purpose.
He was further told that all those who had the NIC or the CNIC, were eligible to register them as voters. However, it was added, those who had reached the age of 18 years but did not got the NIC, should get their NICs immediately and avail the opportunities being offered by the Commission for registration of the voters. Secretary to Governor, Arbab Muhammad Arif was also present on this occasion.
