25 swept away in Karak floods

At least 25 people were reportedly swept away by flash flood in Takht-e-Nasrati village of district Karak, reports pouring in the provincial capital said on Saturday. 10 bodies have already been recovered while search for remaining was continuing.
According to District Nazim Karak Rehmat Salam Khattak these people have gathered at a place in the village in connection with a weekly 'Mela' when the strong wave of flash flood struck the area. He said, rescue operation has been launched by the district administration and law enforcing agencies with the help of local people. "Flood is passing through various villages and further information would be gathered once flood water surface subsides," Rehmat Salam Khattak added.
Meanwhile, according to NWFP Flood Warning Centre, Kabul River at Nowshera and Khaili River at Charsadda, Cambila River at Gambila Bridge, Kaitu River at Spinwarm were in medium flood while Chitral River with discharge of 37,500 cusecs water and Dallas Nullah at Warsak were in high very flood and Jundi River at Charsadda was in extreme 16,800 cusecs water. Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has announced Rs 0.1 million for the families of those who have lost their lives and Rs50,000 for the injured.
