Omantel, Oman's leading telecommunications service provider, and Transworld Associates (TWA), Pakistan-based telecom giant, have formalised a submarine fibre optics cable link between the two countries.
According to the Gulf News, the cable link allows for the exchange of telecommunications traffic between Pakistan and Oman on the one hand and between Pakistan and the rest of the world on the other, through the international hub at Seeb.
"This cable will enable Pakistan in turn to tap into the Falcon and Flag systems by way of local connections provided by Omantel," he added.
TWA venture as one of the successes of the Falcon project, will enable Omantel to sell some large broadband capacity to the Pakistani company, it will also increase Omantel's foreign investments and expand the subscriber base to include regional and international countries, companies and institutions.
