Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has made an appeal to the people to get their names registered in the new electoral lists to ensure their participation in the next general elections as well as making the results of these elections more reflective of public opinion.
He said that registration of names in electoral lists is necessary for continuity of democratic system as well as practical participation in the process of national development. The CM, after getting his name registered in the voters' list, said here on Saturday that these lists were the basic document of elections and it was a matter of satisfaction that Pakistan election commission had started preparations of electoral rolls for forthcoming general elections. He made an appeal to the citizens to extend full cooperation to the government officials who visit them for ensuring their participation in the discharge of a national obligation.
