'Punjab to have pollution-free industrial environment'

Provincial Industries, Investment and Commerce Minister, Muhammad Ajmal Cheema has said that a strategy had been evolved for ensuring pollution-free environment in industrial sector of the Punjab.
Talking to exporters and manufactures here on Monday he said that government had focused its special attention on resolving the problems being confronted by the business community. The promotion of industrial sector and enhancing the export volume was top on the government agenda and in this regard many a step had been taken, he said.
Cheema disclosed that an industrial zone for tanneries would soon be developed near Sambrial where all existing tanneries would be shifted to the proposed zone.
The Punjab government had already released funds amounting to Rs90 million for the tannery zone, he disclosed. The Minister said that due to the business-friendly policies of the government a large number of foreign and overseas Pakistani investors had showed their willingness in investing in different industrial projects.
He said that extra-ordinary efforts were being made for strengthening the SME sector and resolving its problem. In major industrial towns including Sialkot, SMEs industrial estates would be set up in Punjab, he disclosed.
