Russia grain harvest lags behind year ago

Russian large and medium-sized farms had harvested 15.0 million tonnes of grain from 4.8 million hectares by July 25, compared with 17.8 million tonnes from 5.5 million hectares last year.
The average yield was 3.1 tonnes per hectare, below last year's 3.25 tonnes per hectare. Harvesting of winter grains in the Southern federal district is nearly complete. Despite generally good weather in spring and early summer, grain yields are lower than in the two last years.
