New Zealand firm to install biogas plant

03 Aug, 2006

A New Zealand-based company is going to install a biogas plant in collaboration with the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) which would cost around 135 million dollar at Landhi Cattle Colony.
However, the Dairy Farmers Association (DFA) has demanded of the city government to include dairy farmers into the project. They also urged that the produced gas and generated electricity should be provided to all the dairy farmers at minimise rates, said a press release received here on Wednesday.
"The plant would not only produce gas but would also generate 30 MW to 35 MW electricity and the management of the plant should be asked by the government to procure fertiliser from the local dairy farmers," added the release.-PR
