Administrative judge of anti terrorism courts in Karachi on Wednesday directed police investigation officer (IO) to submit charge sheet against three suspects, accused of masterminding suicide attack to kill Pakistan Islami Tehrik and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader Allama Hasan Turrabi in Karachi, on August 9, 2006.
Muhammad Amin alias Khalid Shaheen, Sultan Mehmood alias Saifullah and Muhammad Rehman alias Mani are charged with masterminding suicide attack to kill Allama Hasan Turabi and preparing a suicide bomber for executing their plan.
Hasan Turabi along with his nephew Imran Ali were killed in apparent suicide bomb blast within jurisdiction of Sachal police station Karachi on July 14, 2006.
Police said alleged suicide bomber, later identified as Abdul Karim, had blown himself with explosive material when Hasan Turabi reached his house after attending the rally against Israeli aggression on Palestine.
Three policemen Azhar Hussain, Fakhar Hussain, Muhammad Rashid and a woman Mst. Noreen were also injured in the blast. AJ Justice Mrs Qaiser Iqbal was told by IO that accused were sent to jail by concerned magistrate after recording their confessional statements under section 164 Cr.PC. He sought one-week time to submit charge sheet of the case.
AJ granting request directed IO to complete investigation within one week and submit charge sheet on August 9. The case was registered against them under section 302, 324, 427 of PPC, 3,5 of Explosive Substance and section 7 of Anti Terrorism Act. Seven co-accused were still at large.
The IO was also directed to complete investigation and submit charge sheet against above mentioned accused in another bomb blast case till August 9. According to police, accused planted a remote-controlled bomb in pushcart on April 6, 2006 to kill Hasan Turabi when he was travelling at Abul Hassan Ispahani Road in limits of Mubina Town police station but he escaped unhurt in this attempt. However, Murtaza Turabi, son of Hasan Turabi, gunmen Mashooq and a pedestrian were injured in the blast.
