Around 1,078 plazas, markets build illegally in Lahore

Around 1,078 plazas and markets have been constructed in various parts of the provincial metropolis without getting approval of the site plan and payment of the commercialisation fee by the owners.
District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood on Wednesday sought explanation of the town municipal officers and other concerned officials for not taking cognisance of illegal construction of commercial buildings in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
He was chairing a meeting that was held to review progress of all the departments of the City District Government. District Co-ordination Officer Muhammad Ijaz, Executive District Officers of all the departments and other concerned officials attended the meeting. He directed for arranging a third party survey with a view to verifying the actual figure of illegally built plazas.
Mian Amer also directed for taking necessary steps for ensuring 100 percent collection of sanitation fee from busy commercial centers of the city. He directed for selecting a big market and initiating a pilot project there by persuading concerned traders for paying sanitation fee with the surety that in response thereof, extraordinary sanitation facilities would be provided to them.
The District Nazim directed that a comprehensive campaign shall be launched in collaboration with Traffic police against the Tractor trolleys carrying Iron Rods (Sarya), the length of which was more than the body of the trolley so as to save the life and property of citizens.
