Sindh Chief Secretary Fazal Rehman has summoned a meeting discuss a proposal to declare the Metropole Hotel area as an open space, on the pattern of 'Millennium Dome', with a beautiful fountain, park and seating arrangements where visitors can enjoy in their recreation time.
The Metropole Hotel is a prominent landmark of the city, located in probably the cleanest area till now. The owner of the hotel has recently started demolishing parts of the structure to build a 'central tower'. The hotel is at a prime location and on one side it faces Sindh Club, and on other sides are Services Club, State Guest House, Karachi Gymkhana and Avari Tower.
Sources said that the Chief Secretary has worked out a plan to buy the hotel from the new owner and then develop the 2.5 acres area on the pattern of 'Millennium Dome' to attract people.
