THE RUPEE: minor changes against dollar

04 Aug, 2006

Slight changes were seen in the interbank market on Thursday as the rupee fluctuated in a narrow band versus the dollar for buying and selling at 60.30 and 60.32, dealers said. They said that dollars' supply was comfortable which helped the rupee to hold its present position.
Some other dealers also said that due to the higher oil payment, the dollar demand was up but supply was enough to meet market demand, they said. In the international markets, the US currency firmed versus the major currency units, they added.
Versus the euro the rupee, however, gained 30 paisa for buying and selling at 76.70 and Rs 76.80, they said.
