Minister of State Senator Kamil Ali Agha, who is chief election commissioner for the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML) elections, on Friday announced election schedule for central office-bearers. Addressing a news conference at the PML Secretariat, he said polls would be held on August 12 in Islamabad.
PML leaders Iqbal Dar, Imtiaz Ranjha, Mehmood Hashmi and others were present on this occasion. He said the election process had been completed amicably in all the provinces and federal capital.
Agha said nomination papers for central office-bearers could be filed on August 11 at 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The scrutiny of the nomination papers would be held at the same day at 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. He added that the final list of the candidates would be issued on August 11 at 8:pm.
He said that 1500 members of the General Council of the PML would elect central office-bearers on August 12. They include 695 members from Punjab, 295 form Sindh, 111 from Balochistan, 276 from NWFP and 37 from Federal capital.
He said the process of the party elections would be completed by August 14. He said the PML president had directed that the party should be re-organised across the country. He said the PML had completed the campaign of membership within 8 months in which total of 4.5 million people got memberships of the party.
