Private firm to set up 200 computer laboratories in government schools

Digital Education (Pvt) Limited, a company running Smart School project in Punjab, has offered Sindh Education Department to introduce computer-based teaching paradigm by establishing in first phase around 200 sophisticated computer laboratories on BOT (Build, Operate and Transfer) basis.
Dr Humayun Mian of the company made this offer to Sindh Minister for Education, Dr Hamida Khuhro during a presentation at her office on Friday. Secretary, education, Ghulam Ali Pasha and other officials were also present.
Dr Mian told minister that smart education was a scientifically developed education program originally developed by Harvard Academics. Its methodology was based on a comprehensive education process focussing on development of at least four fundamental capabilities- basic memory related skills like arithmetic skills, vocabulary, components of speech; memory related absorption of knowledge about some basic facts, figures and law of nature; skills of scientific reasons and analysis and skills in the use of a modern computer and its associated tools. Dr Khuhro welcomed the offer and directed the officials of education department to plan for introducing such system in 200 schools in two selected districts of the province.
