05 Aug, 2006

NWFP Minister for Information, Asif Iqbal Daudzai said on Friday that an Expo centre was being established here with the assistance of the federal government in the near future, which would boost trade activities in the province as well as help the locally manufactured goods have access to the international markets.
Addressing the opening ceremony of Fedro Marketing services at Peshawar, he said that Peshawar was a gateway for the Central Asian Republics and permanent peace in the neighbouring country Afghanistan was a prerequisite for the promotion of trade with the CARs.
He said the available natural resources, peaceful environment and the incentives offered by the government demand the investors, be from home or abroad, to come here and avail the opportunities fully for their benefit. The investment, he said, would help expedite the development process as well as curtail the growing problem of unemployment in the province.
Asif Iqbal said that the MMA government was keen in promoting investment in the province and held an investment conference and Provincial Development Forum here in the recent past that resulted in the setting up of 121 new industrial units as well as bringing investment of Rs 26 billion.
