US MIDDAY: coffee slumps

US arabica coffee futures closed easier on Friday, weighed down by speculators taking profits and light producer selling after nearly an 11-percent price gain during the past three trading sessions.
The New York Board of Trade's arabica coffee for September delivery slipped 0.40 cent at $1.0545 a lb, having dealt from $1.0460 to $1.0675 a lb. The top trade was well below Thursday's peak of $1.0890, which was a 2-1/2-month high.
