Anti-Israeli resolution: opposition response appreciated

07 Aug, 2006

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Amanullah Khan Jadoon said on Sunday that passage of unanimous resolution against Israeli aggression on Lebanon in the National Assembly was reflective of the nation's unity.
In a statement issued here, the minister said it was a good step on the part of the opposition leaders that they did not exploit the situation for their political gains.
He said if they had reacted on publication of blasphemous sketches of Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) by western newspapers, in the same manner, a strong message could have been given to anti-Islam elements that time.
Appreciating the current gesture of the position on anti-Israeli aggression resolution, the minister said, they had taken lesson from the past that interests of a particular group should not be preferred to those of whole Muslim Ummah. He said the government expected the same good gesture of the opposition on internal affairs of the country as well.
