PPP slams government, CDGK

07 Aug, 2006

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has strongly condemned what it charged 'apathy and negligence' of provincial and city governments toward people during the current monsoon rains. "This proves rulers have no interest in protecting people's life and property and they are busy in only making tall claims," Sindh PPP president Syed Qaim Ali Shah said.
Qaim Ali Shah accused the Karachi city government of showing negligence and incompetence to cope with monsoon rains, saying the CDGK's indifference had resulted in flooding of the metropolis and turning of all roads and localities into lake.
The PPP leader charged the CDGK and provincial government had not helped search bodies of Shahzeb and Naheed, son and daughter of resident of Siraj Goth, Kathore, resident Said Muhammad Kalmati, who were swept away in gushing rainwater. He demanded of the government to forthwith provide relief to rain-affected people and pay compensation to families.
