Rains, road conditions affect supplies, business

One or two days trading was seen on the commodities wholesale market and the impact of rains had kept even the needy buyers to indoors during the week ended on August 5, 2006, where cotton cakes and grams and related grain made some changes visible.
The grain market opened on Monday looking actively busy as even movement on the roads, lanes and by lanes was risky. The rushing waters and left muddy roads and the feeling made people to stay at home. The only price fluctuation was marked in cottonseed oilcakes with bag quoted down at Rs 680 and better one at Rs 690. The shutters, which were lifted late, were down early much before the normal time, waiting for no one to buy goods was tiring.
On Tuesday business depicted as sluggish as on the opening day. The markets were partially open but road condition had not improved and buyers kept themselves in door. The same item was in demand showing cotton cakes inferior higher by Rs 20 to Rs 700 and better type up Rs 15 to Rs 705. On Wednesday it was too much to keep oneself in doors keeping in door for an indefinite period.
The people who felt they were short of some items of daily use and moved on to the nearest market places to buy items like gram garda Punjab up Rs 75 to Rs 3175 while better was quoted higher at Rs 3250, gram dal Punjab inferior up Rs 50 to Rs 3650 and better type quoted higher at Rs 3750, yellow peas Canada up Rs 10 to Rs 1510 and better was quoted at Rs 1560, yellow peas dal Canada rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1650 and better higher at Rs 1700, beetle Chana No 1 up Rs 50 to Rs 3250 and better quoted at Rs 3350, beetle 50x50 shed Rs 50 to Rs 3125 and better one was quoted down at Rs 3225, and dal beetle lost Rs 50 to Rs 3750, and better quoted at Rs 3750 and guwar gained Rs 50 to Rs 1825 and better quoted at Rs 2050, rapeseed N'shah low type was quoted higher by Rs 20 on higher demand to Rs 870, and good type gained Rs 30 to Rs 890, Dadulane's low type shed Rs 15 to Rs 675 and cotton cake with bag up Rs 5 to Rs 705 and better up quoted at Rs 710 on said to be strong demand.
On Thursday trading turned low paced and few fluctuations were noted. Masoor from Australia lost Rs 50 to Rs 2600, masoor Canada shed Rs 100 to Rs 2650, dal Pakistani lost Rs 50 to Rs 3000 and India dal lost same amount to Rs 3200, moong P shed Rs 200 to Rs 4700.
On Friday buyers stayed back home as prices had gone higher owing to restrain in supplies due to rain. On Saturday various verities of grams became dearer, cottonseed oilcake was up by Rs 20.
