Palestinian speaker's abduction echoes in National Assembly

08 Aug, 2006

The kidnapping of the Palestinian Speaker Aziz Dweik by the Israelis echoed in the National Assembly on Monday to show solidarity with the Palestinians.
While speaking on an adjournment motion on the flood situation, Hafiz Hussain Ahmad of MMA stood up on a point of order and said that he wanted to represent a resolution condemning a terrorist act of the Israelis abducting the Speaker of Palestinian Assembly.
The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan supported the idea. "This is a terrible incident and I agree with him. We would strongly support such a resolution. This he hoped would shake the conscience of the world."
