50 percent Site industrial area without power

Site Association of Industry (SAI) Chairman, Ameen Bandukda has condemned the attitude of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation, as KESC spokesman claimed that there was no power problem being faced by the industry and stated that everything was working fine.
In a letter to KESC Chief Executive Officer, Frank Scherschmidt, he drew his attention towards the statement of KESC spokesman Syed Sultan in his television interview on Tuesday and termed it highly irresponsible. He said it shows callousness and lack of empathy towards the industry and trade.
The SAI chief said the KESC senior officer, while commenting over the press conference held jointly by SAI and KCCI on Monday, stated that it was only to gain political mileage and concessions.
He said the association on a daily basis holding discussions and meetings with Engineer Tariq Noor, Div Director Networks, Engineer Rafiq Khanzada, GM (Network & Distribution), Arshad Iftikhar, Deputy GM and Sarwar Faridi GM.
He said these officers were fully aware of the electricity feeders, sub-stations and HT cables, which were still not working and electricity from them going to innumerous industry have been shut down since July 30, 2006.
Almost 50 percent of Site area had been without power since the last 10 days, which include Saleem Industry, Rhone Veckers, General Mechanic, Dada Soap, Muskalin, Mack Truck, Glaxo Smith Kline, Bayer Pharma, Datar, Karim Hyder, Diamond Rubber, Bashir Textile, Manyar Plastic, Lever Brothers, Metal Arc, Khalid Jawaid, Royal Re-Rolling (LT Service, O/H Cable Fault), Haji Sikander Ali, Lamica, Cyston Packages, Chambon (Gravure Packagng) (Acme), Zaibtun Textile, Pak Khopra (Al-Sattar Textile), National Containers, Nawab Brothers, Salika Mills, Manzoor Traders, Standard Paint, Ever Green, Paracha Textile, Kohinoor Marble, Shama Industries, Krudsons, Moonlight Industry, Pakistan Particle Board and Hino Pak.
H T Linlkomg cable faults include Karachi Pipe to Saleem Industries s/s, Fashion Tex s/s to Bayer Pharma s/s, Bawani Tex s/s to Site-II s/s, M H Ghani s/s to Kohinoor, Shama Industries to Makda Industries s/s, Kosil s/s to Pak Container s/s, Kosil s/s to Danpak PMT, General Mechanic to Kulsum PMT, Pakistan Particle Board s/s to Japan Metal s/s, Pakistan Tobacco s/s to Cine Colour s/s, Habib Industries s/s to SmithKline s/s, Yousuf Re-Rolling to PPI, Superior Iron Steel s/s to KAB, Labour Flats to Cine Colour s/s, 15 Shahid s/s to Ashva Brothers s/s, Mumtaz Steel s/s General Mechanic s/s, Aluminium Plastic s/s to Razaque Steel, Foundation Engineering to United Carpets s/s, M A Industries Loop.
Main cable fault (feeders) include Razaque Steel, Common Facility, Bahawalpur Flour Mills, Northern Electric, Standard Rolling and Alamgir Rayon.
