Karachi Electric Supply Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Frank Scherschmidt has contacted the leadership of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and assured that their grievances would be redressed.
Sources said on Tuesday that the KESC chief executive officer would also hold a meeting with KCCI managing committee members and leaders of other trade bodies soon to explain the KESC problems and measures it took to rectify the defect, which causes power failure after rainfall.
Power failure was caused by rainfall on July 30, and after passing of over 10 days it could not be restored in many parts of the industrials areas, causing colossal losses to the industrial production.
A joint press conference was held on Monday by KCCI and other trade bodies in which the industrialists had threatened to give a strike call against the KESC mismanagement and urged the government to cancel KESC privatisation agreement as well as deploying army engineering unit to manage the power supply.
