Government committed for promoting Punjabi language: Elahi

Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture was playing an important role in the promotion of Punjabi language and spreading the message of love and peace of Sufi-poets in the society
He was presiding over a meeting of Board of Governors of Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture here on Tuesday, disclosed an official. Provincial Minister for Culture and Youth Affairs, Shaukat Ali Bhatti, Secretary Education, Akhlaq Hussain Gillani, Executive Director Punjab Arts Council, Ghulam Mustafa, Executive Director Lahore Arts Council, Asghar Hussain Gillani and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
The CM said that the 3-storey building of Punjabi Complex at Ferozpur Road near Qaddafi Stadium, over an area of 13 kanal, was in the final stage of completion. He said that besides Punjabi language, the government was also taking solid measures for the development of Saraiki, Potohari and other languages.
He directed that special attention must be paid towards Punjabi alphabets and compilation of Punjabi dictionary.
"Development of Punjabi language would go a long way in highlighting Punjabi culture, poetry and art. Paintings depicting Punjabi culture as well as manuscripts would also be displayed at Punjabi Complex. This institution would also evolve comprehensive programmes for promoting creative activities regarding Punjabi literature, art and culture. Propagation of the mystic poetry of sufi-saints was developing the trend of peace, brotherhood and tolerance in the society," he added.
Director Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture, Shaista Nuzhat gave a detailed briefing about the institution as well as Punjabi Complex. The meeting was informed that Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture was playing an important role in the promotion of Punjabi language and culture by arranging Bulley Shah seminar, Jashn-e-Baharan, Jashn-e-Madhu Lal Hussain, Hazrat Sultan Bahu Seminar, Khawaja Ghulam Farid Conference, Urs of Baba Farid, Sohni Mela and other programmes.
Similarly, this institution was also promoting Cholistani culture. It was further informed that arrangements were also being made for launching a Punjabi magazine.
Meanwhile, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal, Tanveer Mehmood Ahmad called on the Punjab Chief Minister. Matters regarding development projects in Punjab as well as national affairs were discussed in the meeting.
The CM apprised the Air Chief Marshal about the reforms introduced in education, health and other sectors of development.
Air Chief Marshal Tanveer Mehmood Ahmad also exchanged views with the CM regarding professional matters about national defence.
