The new lithotripsy machine that was installed at a cost of Rs 27.5 million at the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) would help dissolve kidney stone up to 2.5 cm size without rendering the patient unconscious.
Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal and Urology Professor Dr Sajjad Husain stated this while talking to newsmen, here on Wednesday. LGH Superintendent Dr Ijaz Ahmad Sheikh and Dr Mumtaz Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
With this machine, stones can be removed from kidneys without any operation, said Professor Sajjad, adding that computerised dialysis machines worth Rs 10 million have also been installed for prompt dialysis results and quick service to the poor patients. These computerised machines also monitor the blood pressure and pulse of the patients, he maintained.
