People support government's policies: Wasim

12 Aug, 2006

Leader of the House Wasim Sajjad on Friday said the people fully supported the policies of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz as their policies meant to benefit them.
Speaking in the Senate after the opposition staged a token walk out on the absence of some ministers, he said the government had taken unprecedented development projects in various parts of the country. Those projects, he added, were underway in Balochistan, Northern Areas and other far-flung and under-developed areas. He said the government was providing better employment opportunities to the common man.
Wasim said the Opposition was attempting to mislead the masses by trying to build up momentum upto August 23 when they bring confidence move against the Prime minister in the National Assembly. He, however, said the people of Pakistan were well aware of their tactics.
The Opposition earlier walked out in protest from the proceedings when they wanted to take up some adjournment motions but some ministers were not present. However, Leader of the House Wasim Sajjad and Minister of State for Education Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli brought them back to the House.
