MMA vows to hold meeting on August 14 at Minar-e-Pakistan

Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) leader Hafiz Salman Butt on Friday announced that MMA will hold its public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 14, at any cost. Talking to newsmen here on Friday, Butt said that MMA had since made a request to the City District Government for holding public meeting on August 14.
'We will go ahead with our programme irrespective of the decision of the government', he said. He said that MQM has been allowed to hold a public meeting on August 13 but no permission has been accorded to the MMA to hold its public meeting.
He criticised the government over aggravating law and order situation, escalating price hike and wrong policies, which have created manifold problems for the country as well as people. He said that representative of ARD, Ponam and other opposition members have already been invited to attend the public meeting on August 14.
To a question, he said that restoration of the 1973 constitution in its original shape is necessary to get rid of problems confronting to the country. He further said that all the opposition parties are unanimous on one point agenda of removal of General Musharraf. To another query, he said that holding of free, fair and transparent elections are not possible under the present regime.
