'Peace and tranquillity must for progress, prosperity'

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that peace and tranquillity is essential for progress and prosperity, and it is only through accelerating the pace of development that the problem of unemployment could be tackled.
He was talking to a delegation of Ulema of Jama'at-e-Ahle Sunnat Pakistan led by its Nazim-e-Aala, Syed Riaz Hussain Shah, here on Friday, disclosed an official. Secretary Auqaf, Rais Abbas Zaidi and a prominent religious leader and a former federal minister Haji Hanif Tayyab were also present on the occasion.
The CM said that Ulema are playing an important role for the promotion of religious harmony and elimination of sectarianism. He said that mutual love and brotherhood could only be ensured through promotion of Islamic values in the society. He suggested that Ulema should promote love for knowledge in the society, as no country could progress without education. He averred that there is a need for promotion of tolerance and accommodation in the society.
He appreciated the role of Ulema in promoting national integrity and cohesion. Seerat Academy and Quran complex are being constructed in Lahore and the project of Seerat Academy would help popularise Uswa-e-Hasna and Islamic values besides the trend of research in religion. Moreover, an invaluable collection of books on the life and personality of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as well as religion would be preserved in the Seerat Academy, he added.
According to him, a Quran Museum is also being established in Quran complex for preserving old and rare manuscripts of the Holy Quran whereas a large collection of translations and interpretations of the Holy Quran would be collected for the Quran Library, which would also be a part of the Quran Complex.
Moreover, Punjab Quran Board has been constituted for the promotion of teachings of the Holy Quran as well as preservation of the old and rare manuscripts of the Holy Quran.
Under this project Quran Mahal would also be set up at Tehsil level. Ulema of all schools of thought would be given due representation in Punjab Quran Board. He said that effective measures are being taken to check obscenity and vulgarity and strict action would be taken against the elements involved in promoting indecent activities.
