Hudood Ordinance issue would be resolved in accordance with the aspirations and wishes of the masses, as consensus has already been developed and even hard-liners are also agreed upon to bring changes in it.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Punjab for Social Welfare, Mrs Saba Sadiq said this while talking to a delegation of women lawyers who called on her, here on Friday.
Saba Sadiq maintained that Muslim scholars and Ulema have also given their positive verdict in this regard. She said that media also played its responsible role in this regard and after discussion in National Assembly, solid decision would be taken on "Hudood Ordinance". She assured that government would fulfil its responsibilities towards this issue.
She further said that the opposition is not sincere in performing its parliamentary role. She advised the opposition to understand the ground realities and abstain from misleading the masses. She said that both the main opposition groups have enjoyed power one after other and added that once again they want to repeat the same 'musical chair' game despite having worst record of political victimisation during their tenures. She said that achievements of the present government have been recognised at national and international level and added that under the present circumstances the hue and cry of the opposition is useless.
Saba Sadiq appreciated the decision of General Musharraf to release women from jails and said that this step has endorsed the dignity of women folk. She said that Punjab province was ahead in releasing the women from jails. She also appreciated the role of women lawyers in this regard.
