An accountability court has initiated necessary proceedings for declaring Water and Power Development Authority's (Wapda) former chairman General Zahid Ali Akbar (retd) as proclaimed offender. The court initiated the proceedings after his failure to appear before the court.
On Thursday, public prosecutor informed the court that the accused was abroad and failed to appear before the court. The court therefore, directed to initiate proceedings for declaring the accused as proclaimed offender. Afterward, the court adjourned the proceedings till August 18.
The accused has been facing the charges of corruption and making illegal assets in excess of his income. He has also been facing the charges of shifting huge amount abroad.
